It’s a good thing that some wonderful people have devoted themselves to creating fresh baked goods daily, because that means you can enjoy some fine local bakeries in the Annandale, MN vicinity whenever you need that something extra. We can suggest a few to start with in case you’re in the mood to discover a favorite donut oasis.

1. Cold Spring Bakery

Serving the area for 75 years and counting, this bakery has everything you need, from things that go under other things (bagels, breads, and croissants) to things you hold (cupcakes, bars, cookies, donuts, muffins, and “minis” — small versions of full-size items like eclairs, caramel rolls, turnovers, and more). Oh, and there are things you might eat with a fork, like all kinds of cakes, pies, cheesecakes, cream roll cakes, and, well, yet more sweet things than that!

2. Moon Donuts & Cafe

Sure, here you can get your coffee and breakfast sandwiches on croissants and biscuits, as well as a hot dog-filled kolache. But you could be dazzled with donuts, because there’s variety at the Moon that you can’t shake a stick or maple bar at. You’ll find twists and cream-filled, red velvet and rainbow sprinkled, fruit-filled and old-fashioned cake, and glazed. That’s not all, and, oh, there are other pastries, too, like oversized cinnamon rolls, and and and!

3. Blue Egg Bakery

Described as a “typical, iconic small-town bakery,” the Blue Egg has old-fashioned diet blowers by the dozen. Donuts, donuts, and more donuts include chocolate long johns, ladyfingers filled with cream cheese filling or whipped cream, peanut butter and jelly donuts, and toppings like sprinkles and coconut, as is tradition. Don’t forget the cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, cakes, and cream puffs. All your old favorites are here!

4. Mimi’s Cafe

People love the historic vibe of this place as they relax with coffee and a tasty grilled cafe breakfast or lunch. The baked goods are a natural fit, with fluffy muffins, classic cinnamon rolls that can be covered with icing and nut-topped or not, frosted donuts, and drizzled scones. One specialty here is a very creative number called a “stuffed French toast bake” described as “made with our baked goodies chopped up and tossed in cream cheese and egg.”

5. Dutch Maid Bakery

This part of the state really loves it some donuts, and there are more than enough of these convenient sweet vehicles for you to choose from. The “roll” donuts here can be filled, frosted, fried, and topped. They’ve got plenty of round donuts, too. You don’t see banana-frosted donuts all that often! The Dutch Maid has a long list of breads and rolls, as well, plus specialty coffee cakes, regular cakes, and bars and cookies in all kinds of flavors.
