Summer is here! There are tons of fun things you can do this summer with your family. You could go to the zoo and explore nature while having a picnic in the park. Or, you could visit one of the many lakes in Minnesota. Below are three summer activities you can drive to from Annandale, MN, so you don’t have to travel far this summer:
Annandale Municipal Park
Annandale Municipal Park is a great place to spend an afternoon with the family. The park has a playground, a picnic area with tables and grills, and a nature trail that goes through the woods. It’s also home to Annandale’s first fire station, which was built in 1931 and is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

The park has picnic areas, camping sites, hiking trails, and more. Lake Maria State Park is open year-round and offers amenities like an outdoor swimming pool and canoe rentals.

Maple Lake State Wildlife Management Area
One of our favorites is driving to Maple Lake State Wildlife Management Area. It’s a beautiful drive through the country with amazing scenery and lots of wildlife. Maple Lake State Wildlife Management Area is located in Maple Lake, MN and offers over 3,000 acres of land for hunting and fishing.
The park has two lakes, one for swimming and the other for fishing. There are restrooms at the park and picnic areas where you can enjoy your lunch. The park also hosts events throughout the year, such as a fishing derby, family night activities, and guided tours through the woods.
