A Close-Up Look at the 2022 Ford Explorer

Lower-trim Ford Explorers come standard. 2.3 EcoBoost engine. This engine has rear-wheel drive, available intelligent four-wheel drive, 20/28 city/highway mpg, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. This will likely be more than enough for all of your day-to-day activities.

If you need something with more power, you can instead go with the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine. This engine has 400 horsepower and 415 lb-feet of torque. Lastly, you can go with a  3.3L, 10-speed, automatic hybrid engine. The Hybrid has 318 horsepower and 322 lb-ft of torque.

Ford Co-Pilot360 Technology with Safety Upgrades

Each Ford Explorer comes with Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety technology. The standard safety features in the Explorer include blind-spot monitoring, rear-view sensors, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high beam headlights. Choose to upgrade your Explorer by adding Active Park Assist. With the push of a button, this feature will have your car fit into a tricky parking spot for you. And best of all, this feature can get you in and out of those tight parallel spots.

Eight Trim Levels to Choose From

Your options really come into play when you consider all eight of the Ford Explorer trims. You can select the most affordable model or go for all of the luxurious extras with the Premium Explorer. Each trim has its own features that are designed to match the driver’s needs, and even the lower-level trims will impress you. The new trim for 2022, the ST-Line, is all about a bold statement: It has 20-inched machined aluminum wheels and a blacked-out grille.
One of our favorite trims is the Timberline, which was introduced in 2021. Its entire design centers around taking control of any off-roading experience. It has intelligent 4WD, sway control, hill descent control, and a terrain management system. Keep strong traction with the Bridgestone Dueler P265/65R-18 all-terrain tires, and tow over 5000 pounds. Design details are just as impressive as its capabilities: It has glass black-painted aluminum wheels with a laser-etched logo.

Add Optional Features

Maximize your budget by choosing the right trim level and selecting the certain optional features you have your eyes on. Some of the notable optional features are a wireless charging pad, panoramic moonroof, heated second-seats, and a heated steering wheel. Depending on your vehicle model, you can upgrade to different sound systems and add a power-folding third-row seat.
